Climate Change Cell, Department of Environment, Chandigarh
The Department of Environment (DoE), Chandigarh Administration, serves as the central authority for addressing environmental concerns in Chandigarh. It focuses on creating awareness, formulating policies, and enforcing regulations to prevent environmental degradation and preserve natural resources. Recently, the DoE secured a 5-year project from the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, to establish the State Climate Change Centre/Cell. This Climate Change Cell (CCC) operates as a knowledge hub, conducting essential studies related to climate change and the environment in Chandigarh. Its mission is to provide information and knowledge through tailored outreach programs to policymakers, the scientific community, and the general public, contributing to effective climate change management.
